Wildwood Ely

Welcome to Wildwood Ely, a delightful dining destination nestled in the heart of Ely at 15 High St, CB7 4LQ. From the moment you step inside, you are enveloped by a warm, inviting atmosphere that beckons you to unwind and indulge in the culinary delights ahead. Wildwood Ely is more than just a restaurant; it’s a community hub where delicious food, friendly service, and memorable experiences come together.

As I ventured into this charming cafe, the friendly demeanor of the staff immediately caught my attention. Patrons often rave about their quick greetings and warm welcomes, making every visitor feel right at home. One customer, Matthew Young (Urban Tiger), noted that while the food was commendable and the prices comparable to other establishments, an unexpected service charge put a slight damper on his experience. Despite this, the overall atmosphere and food quality shine brightly.

The menu at Wildwood Ely boasts a variety of mouthwatering options, from hearty pizzas to delectable desserts. Kevin Turner highlighted that the garlic bread here is unparalleled, a recommendation I wholeheartedly second. The flavors dance on your palate, leaving you yearning for more. Additionally, the swift service ensures that you won't have to wait long to delve into these culinary gems.

  • Exceptional Qualities: The ambiance is pleasant, making it suitable for casual outings, family gatherings, or even romantic dinners.
  • A Flawless Service Experience: Many reviews emphasize the attentive staff, ready to swiftly resolve any issues that may arise, such as the quick rectification Phil Lemon experienced when his pizza wasn't prepared as requested.
  • Accommodating for Desserts: Visitors like Charlotte King laud the cafe's openness for guests just looking to indulge in dessert, with staff making every effort to ensure satisfaction.

However, it’s important to note that not every experience has been smooth. Peta Scott shared a frustrating encounter regarding a reservation mix-up; while unfortunate, the cafe's overall reputation deflects from these isolated incidents, underscoring their commitment to quality and service.

In conclusion, Wildwood Ely offers a blend of delicious offerings and a welcoming atmosphere, setting it apart as a must-visit spot in Ely. Whether you're in for a casual meal with friends or looking to indulge in delightful desserts, this cafe aims to please while continuously enhancing its services. So why not visit Wildwood Ely? The garlic bread alone is worth the trip!

This place looked nice and welcoming and the staff were friendly and happy, the food was good and the prices were pretty much the same as other similar restaurants throughout the country. The one thing I really did not like was the service charge added to the bill. Not many places do this anymore, and I hate it. I usually would tip, but not after that unexpected extra charge.

Firstly, service was very good. Quickly greeted at door and seated despite being early for our reservation. Our server (forget her name), was lovely and very helpful - had to rectify an issue with food; pizza topping was requested to be replaced, but came out with "removed" ingredient still on it, she quickly resolved this and discount applied to compensate, which was kind. Also, never spent too long with empty plates Infront of us and courses arrived at good pace.Food generally was good.Atmosphere was a busy lunchtime service that tapered off through our hour stay.Good asset to Elys dwindling restaurant offering.

I rang to make a booking for Valentine's Day and was told that the only tables available were at pm. I said this was fine and my details were taken. On arrival at .pm, the manager informed me that my name was not on the list and he couldn't help. He went on to blame his staff member for doing the wrong thing by taking my booking. There was no attempt to make this right and I was made to feel that perhaps I hadn't made a booking at all and was chancing it. I come from Australia where customer service is key and Wildwood is sadly lacking in this area. I will never set foot in this establishment again.

We visited here for dessert as we had previously visited elsewhere for a main meal and didn't have a very good service. The friendliness and service here was night and day compared to the other place! When we went into Wildwood we explained we only wanted a dessert and staff said that was absolutely fine and were very accomodating. Service was super quick and the desserts were really tasty. I am not sure the desserts are homemade, but for ones that I suspect are perhaps bought in or frozen, they were really good! The man who served us was professional and polite. The only downside and slight criticism which is why I have given the overall rating as stars rather than is that the desserts are quite pricey (£. and £.) and I think for that price the cheesecake could have at least come with some cream or ice-cream. On top of this there is also a % optional service charge. I do not normally pay service charges as I do not believe it is right to add that on automatically and I think tipping should be personal choice. However, we overlooked it on this occasion and paid it as we could not fault the staff or the food. Even a guy working on the bar who I passed when going to the toilet just before leaving who we'd had no interaction with previously wished us a very good evening! Really welcoming atmosphere which makes such a difference.
